This blog post will be on Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith. I will be discussing the themes and topics the author wants us to know about. There is no correct theme or topic but we can always make it up. Not all books have lessons but most lessons can be learned from books. Grasshopper Jungle is basically about 3 friends who need to defeat giant 6 foot praying mantis before they take over, People basically turn into giant praying mantis and keep reproducing. I am not giving any spoilers, you will find most of this information on the summary of this book. Austin is the main character who is going to reverse the praying mantis problem.

I would recommend reading Grasshopper Jungle first before reading this blog post because it may have a few spoilers without spoiling thee whole book. I enjoyed reading Grasshopper Jungle because of the humor in the book and the adventurous setting. This book is mainly a thriller but more of an adventure to stop a disease. This book is not recommended for anyone below 13 years of age due to the language and topics that come up. In my point of view, I think Grasshopper Jungle has a really unfinished ending making me think that there are more than one book in the series.

I think the message of this book is not to mess around with something you don't know about. The grasshopper issue started when Austin and his friends found some weird objects in a weird room that had information on praying mantis armies. It is unknown how the praying mantis disease spread but there can be more that one explanation. I think the disease spreads in mid air, it is impossible to literally spread a disease to millions of different people by doing absolutely nothing. The main theme of this book is to not to mess around with stuff you don't know about and to try no matter what. You can always take action for things that are affecting you.
